• Content is King, Marketing is Queen, Parody is Prince

Everyone says “Content is King” – so much so that I might just add it to this list.

Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) says “Marketing is Queen…and the Queen runs the house.

    I say “Parody is Prince.”

You need good, engaging content to start any campaign. Marketing (And PR, by the way) will help you connect with the right people, but when we begin planning, we should ask ourselves whether or not serious and straightforward is only the way to go.

For a good example, I’ll take it back to the 2009 NBA playoffs.

    Exhibit A – 2009 NBA Playoffs TNT

Exhibit B – MVPs Kobe & LeBron (Chalk)

Exhibit A is good. Engaging. Dramatic. The content is delivered, but Exhibit B is a pretty nice supplemental piece, isn’t it?
